It is narrated from Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair that he said: When Allah Almighty intended to destroy the People of the Elephant, He sent upon them birds like swallows produced from the sea. Each of these birds carried three stones, white and black. Two stones were in its claws and one stone was in its beak. He, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Then these birds came until they formed ranks over the heads of the People of the Elephant, then they shrieked and dropped the stones from their beaks and claws. Whichever stone struck a man's head, it would come out from his backside, and whichever part of the body it struck, it would come out from the other side. The narrator says: And Allah Almighty sent a severe wind which struck the stones, increasing their intensity, so all those people were destroyed.
