Hadith 37740
٣٧٧٤٠ - حدثنا وكيع (قال) (١): حدثنا الأعمش عن مجاهد قال: سمعته يحدث عن عبيد بن عمير الليثي: إن قوم نوح لما أصابهم الغرق، (قال) (٢): وكانت معه امرأة معها صبي لها، قال: فرفعته إلى (حقوها) (٣)، فلما بلغه الماء رفعته إلى صدرها، فلما بلغه الماء رفعته إلى (ثديها) (٤)، فقال اللَّه: لو كنت (راحما) (٥) منهم أحدا (رحمتها) (٦) يعني برحمتها (الصبي) (٧).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair that when the flood of drowning came upon the people of Hazrat Nuh, it is said that there was a woman among those people who had a child with her. The narrator says: That woman lifted the child up to her waist. When the water reached her waist, she raised the child up to her chest, then when the water reached her chest, she lifted the child up to her breast. Allah Almighty said: If I were to have mercy on any of these people, I would have mercy on this woman, that is, because of her mercy towards the child.
