Hadith 37553
٣٧٥٥٣ - حدثنا عفان قال: حدثنا وهيب قال: حدثنا داود بن أبي هند عن أبي حرب بن أبي الأسود عن أبيه قال: جمع أبو موسى القراء (فقال) (١): لا يدخلن عليكم إلا من جمع القرآن، قال: فدخلنا زهاء ثلاثمائة رجل (فوعظنا) (٢) وقال: أنتم قراء هذا البلد وأنتم، فلا يطولن عليكم الأمد فتقسو قلوبكم كما قست قلوب أهل الكتاب (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu’l-Aswad that he says Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) gathered the reciters. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Only those should come here who have compiled the Qur’an. The narrator says that about three hundred people gathered. Then he (may Allah be pleased with him) advised us and said: You people are the reciters of this city. Do not have long hopes, otherwise your hearts will become hardened just as the hearts of the People of the Book became hardened.
