Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Maymun that he says: Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), along with some of his companions, went to visit Abdullah bin Amir when he was ill, and people thought that he would die. So the people said to him: "Glad tidings to you, for you have constructed many reservoirs at Arafat from which the pilgrims to the House of Allah drink their fill, and you have dug wells in the wilderness." The narrator says that the people mentioned many good deeds. The narrator says that then the people began to say: "InshaAllah, we hope for good for you." Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) remained silent. Then later, when he spoke, it was said: "O Abu Abdur Rahman, what do you say?" He (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "When the earnings are pure, the spending is good. Soon you will arrive, and then you will know."
