Hadith 36104
٣٦١٠٤ - حدثنا ابن إدريس عن حصين عن الشعبي عن سويد بن غفلة قال: شهدنا اليرموك فاستقبلنا عمر وعلينا الديباج والحرير، فأمر فرمينا بالحجارة قال: فقلنا ما بلغه عنا؟ قال: فنزعناه وقلنا كره زينا، فلما استقبلنا رحب بنا ثم قال: إنكم جئتموني في زي أهل الشرك، إن اللَّه لم يرض لمن قبلكم الديباج والحرير (١).
Hazrat Suwaid bin Ghaflah narrates that when we returned from the battle of Yarmouk, Hazrat Umar came to welcome us. At that time, we were wearing clothes made of silk. Hazrat Umar ordered the people to throw stones at us. We said, "We do not know what news he has received about us?" Then we took off the silk clothes and said, "He disliked our appearance." Then when we went, he welcomed us and said, "Earlier you came in the appearance of the polytheists, and Allah Almighty did not like silk even for the people before you."
