Hadith 36099
٣٦٠٩٩ - حدثنا عفان قال: حدثنا جعفر بن كيسان قال: سمعتُ شُويسا العدوي يقول غزوت ميسان فسبيت جارية فنكحتها حتى جاء كتاب من عمر: ردوا ما في أيديكم من سبي ميسان، فرددت، فلا أدري على أي حال رددت؟ حامل أم غير حامل حتى يكون أعَمَر لقراهم وأوفر لخراجهم (١).
Hazrat Shuwais Adawi says that I participated in the battle of Maysan, I captured a slave woman and married her. Then a letter from Hazrat Umar came to us in which it was written that the captives of Maysan should be returned, so I returned that slave woman and I do not know whether she was pregnant or not. This was a cause for greater population and increased tax collection for their settlement.
