Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Samak bin Salamah narrates that when the Muslims conquered Tustar and advanced to fight the enemy, a wealthy man from there betrayed the Muslim warriors and captured them. Then he lit a furnace and placed pork and wine with them, saying, "Either eat this or you will be thrown into the furnace." So, whoever drank the wine and ate the pork was released. These things were presented before Hazrat Naheeb bin Harith, but he refused. As a result, he was thrown into the furnace. When the Muslims returned from their military campaigns and besieged the city, and peace was made with the people of Tustar, peace was also made with that wealthy man. One day, Hazrat Naheeb's nephew said to his uncle, "O uncle, this man is the killer of Naheeb." He replied, "Now these people have come under the protection of the Muslims, so we cannot say anything to them now." When the entire incident was reported to Hazrat Umar, he said, "May Allah have mercy on Naheeb. If he had eaten those things out of compulsion to save his life, there would have been no sin."
