Hadith 36060
٣٦٠٦٠ - حدثنا إسحاق بن منصور قال: ثنا أسباط بن نصر عن السدي عن عبد خير عن الربيع بن خثيم عن عبد اللَّه بن سلام وقع له في سهمه عجوز يهودية، فمر برأس الجالوت فقال: يا رأس الجالوت، تشتري مني هذه الجارية؟ فكلمها فإذا هي على دينه، قال: بكم، قال: بأربعة آلاف، قال: لا حاجة لي فيها، فحلف عبد اللَّه بن سلام: لا ينقصه، فسارّ عبد اللَّه بن سلام بشيء فقرأ هذه الآية: ﴿وَإِنْ يَأْتُوكُمْ أُسَارَى تُفَادُوهُمْ﴾ [البقرة: ٨٥] الآية، فقال عبد اللَّه بن سلام: أنت؟ قال: نعم، قال: لتشترينها أو لتخرجن من دينك، قال: قد أخذتها، قال: فهب لي ما شئت، قال: فأخذ منه ألفين ورد عليه ألفين (١).
Hazrat Rabi’ bin Khuthaym narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Salam received an old Jewish woman as his share from the spoils of Nahawand. He took her and passed by a wealthy Jewish chief and said to him, “Will you buy her?” The chief spoke to the old woman and found out that she followed his religion. He asked, “For how much will you sell her?” Hazrat Abdullah bin Salam replied, “For four thousand.” The chief said, “I do not need her.” Hazrat Abdullah bin Salam swore that he would not reduce the price. Then the chief whispered to Hazrat Abdullah bin Salam and recited this verse of the Holy Qur’an: { وَإِنْ یَأْتُوکُمْ أُسَارَی تُفَادُوہُمْ } Then he asked, “Are you Abdullah bin Salam?” He replied, “Yes.” Then the chief said, “Either sell me this slave woman or leave your religion.” Hazrat Abdullah bin Salam said, “I have given her to you; give me whatever you wish from the price as a gift.” Hazrat Abdullah bin Salam took two thousand and returned two thousand to him.
