Hadith 36039
٣٦٠٣٩ - حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن عاصم الأحول قال: (سأل) (١) (صبيح) (٢) أبا عثمان النهدي وأنا أسمع فقال له: هل أدركت النبي ﷺ؟ قال: نعم، أسلمت على عهد النبي ﷺ، وأديت إليه ثلاث صدقات ولم ألقه، وغزوت على ⦗٣٥⦘ عهد عمر غزوات، شهدت فتح القادسية وجلولاء (وتستر) (٣) ونهاوند واليرموك وآذربيجان ومهران ورستم، فكنا نأكل السمن ونترك الودك، فسألته عن الظروف، فقال: لم نكن نسأل عنها -يعني طعام المشركين (٤).
Hazrat Asim Ahwal narrates that Sabeeh asked Abu Uthman Nahdi, "Did you see the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?" He replied, "Yes, I embraced Islam during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and I sent zakat to him three times, but I did not meet him. I participated in various battles during the time of Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him. I took part in the battles of Qadisiyyah, Jalula, Tustar, Nahawand, Yarmouk, Azerbaijan, Mehran, and Rustam. We used to eat fat and would leave oil. I asked him about eating from the utensils of the polytheists, and he replied, 'We did not use to ask about them.'"
