Hadith 35504
٣٥٥٠٤ - حدثنا يحيى بن آدم عن زهير عن الحسن بن الحر عن الحكم عن عمرو ابن شعيب عن أبيه (عن جده) (١) أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ كان ينفل قبل أن تنزل ⦗٤٢١⦘ فريضة الخمس في المغنم فلما نزلت: ﴿وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا غَنِمْتُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَأَنَّ لِلَّهِ خُمُسَهُ﴾ [الأنفال: ٤١]، ترك النفل الذي (كان) (٢) ينفل وصار في ذلك خمس الخمس وهو سهم اللَّه وسهم النبي ﷺ (٣).
Hazrat Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from his father, and he from his father, that before the command of khums (one-fifth) in booty was revealed, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) would set aside a gift (some portion). Then, when the verse of the Holy Qur'an { مَا غَنِمْتُمْ مِنْ شَیْئٍ فَأَنَّ لِلَّہِ خُمُسَہُ } was revealed, the extra portion that was given was abolished and it became part of the khums of the khums. That is the share of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him).
