Hadith 35407
٣٥٤٠٧ - حدثنا وكيع قال: (ثنا) (١) الصباح بن ثابت البجلي قال: سمعت الشعبي يقول: إن المنذر بن (الدهر بن) (٢) (خميصة) (٣) خرج في طلب العدو، فلحقت الخيل العتاق، وتقطعت البراذين، [فأسهم للعراب سهمين وللبراذين سهمًا، ثم كتب بذلك إلى عمر فأعجبه ذلك، فجرت سنة للخيل بعد (٤).
Hazrat Sha’bi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Mundhir bin Dahr bin Hameesah went out to face the enemy. Excellent purebred Arabian horses were found, and the Turkish-bred horses were separated. Thus, two shares were allotted for the Arabian horses and one share for the Turkish-bred horses. Then he wrote to Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding this matter. He approved of it, and thereafter this method was established for the horses.
