Hadith 35338
٣٥٣٣٨ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا صدقة الدمشقي عن يحيى بن يحيى الغساني قال: كتبت إلى عمر بن عبد العزيز أسأله عن هذه الآية: ﴿وَقَاتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ الَّذِينَ يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ وَلَا تَعْتَدُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ﴾ [البقرة: ١٩٠]، قال: فكتب ⦗٣٧٨⦘ إلي أن ذلك في النساء والذرية ومن لم ينصب (١) الحرب منهم.
Hazrat Yahya bin Yahya Ghassani (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I wrote a letter to Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) and asked about this verse: Translation: "And fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors." He (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter in reply to me and said: Indeed, this verse is about women and children and those among them who do not participate in fighting.
