Hazrat Abu Tufail (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Nothing prevented me from participating in the Battle of Badr except that I and my father Haseel (may Allah have mercy on him) had set out when the disbelievers of Quraysh caught us and said, "You are going to Muhammad." So we said, "We are not going to him; our intention is only to go to Madinah." So they took a promise from us that we would return to Madinah and would not fight alongside Muhammad (ﷺ). So we came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of this incident. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Both of you return; we will also fulfill the promise made to them, and we will seek Allah's help against them."
