من قال يؤم القوم أقرؤهم لكتاب اللهThose who say the one who knows most Quran should lead the prayer
Hadith 3488
٣٤٨٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا أبو خالد عن الأعمش عن إسماعيل بن رجاء عن أوس (بن) (١) (ضمعج) (٢) عن أبي مسعود الأنصاري قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "يوم القوم أقرؤهم (٣) لكتاب اللَّه، فإن كانوا في القراءة سواء، فأعلمهم بالسنة، فإن كانوا في السنة سواء، فأقدمهم هجرة، فإن كانوا في الهجرة سواء، فأقدمهم سلما، ولا يومن الرجل الرجل في سلطانه، ولا يقعد في بيته على تكرمته إلا بإذنه" (٤).
Hazrat Abu Mas’ud Ansari narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The one who is the most proficient reciter of the Book of Allah should lead the prayer. If they are equal in recitation, then the one who has the most knowledge of the Sunnah should lead. If they are equal in knowledge of the Sunnah, then the one who emigrated earlier should lead. If they are equal in emigration, then the one who accepted Islam earlier should lead. No man should lead another in his domain, and no man should sit on another’s cushion in his room without his permission.
