Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I went to Yemen to fight along with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). So I noticed some excess in him. When I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I mentioned Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and described his fault. Upon this, the color of the face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) changed, and he said: Am I not more entitled to the believers than their own selves? I said: Why not, O Messenger of Allah! Certainly. He said: Whoever I am a friend to, then Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is also his friend.
