Hadith 33975
٣٣٩٧٥ - حدثنا عفان قال: ثنا حماد بن سلمة قال: أخبرنا ثابت عن أنس أن أبا بكر كان رديف النبي ﷺ من مكة إلى المدينة، وكان أبو بكر يختلف إلى الشام، قال: وكان يعرف، وكان النبي ﷺ لا يعرف فكانوا يقولون: يا أبا بكر من هذا الغلام بين يديك، قال: هذا هاد يهدي السبيل، قال: فلما دنوا من المدينة (نزلوا) (١) الحرة (وبعثوا) (٢) إلى الأنصار فجاؤوا قال: فشهدته يوم دخل المدينة، فما رأيت يوما كان أحسن ولا أضوأ من يوم دخل علينا فيه، وشهدته يوم مات، فما رأيت يوما كان أقبح ولا أظلم من يوم مات فيه، -صلوات اللَّه ورحمته ورضوانه عليه (إلى يوم الدين) (٣) (٤).
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Abu Bakr was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ from Makkah to Madinah, and Hazrat Abu Bakr used to travel to and from Syria and was well-known, whereas the Prophet ﷺ was not so well-known. So people would say, "O Abu Bakr! Who is this young man with you?" He would reply, "He is a guide who is showing me the way." When they neared Madinah, they stopped at the place of Harrah and sent a message to the Ansar, so they came. He says, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ on the day he entered Madinah. I have not seen any day better and brighter than the day he came to us, and I saw him on the day he passed away, and I have not seen any day worse and darker than the day he passed away. May Allah's mercy and pleasure be upon him."
