Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibrahim bin Muhammad, who is from the descendants of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates that when Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to describe the attributes of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he would say: He was neither tall nor very short in stature; he was of medium height. He had lightly curly hair, not very curly, nor completely straight, but rather slightly wavy hair. He was not very fleshy, nor was his face completely round, but there was a slight roundness in his face. He had a fair complexion with a tinge of redness. The blackness of his eyes was intensely black, and his eyelashes were long. The upper and middle parts of his shoulders were strong and hairless, and there was a line of hair on his chest extending to his navel. He had thick palms and feet. When he walked, he walked with strength, as if descending a slope. When he turned, he would turn completely. Between his shoulders was the seal of Prophethood, and he was the Seal of the Prophets. He was the most generous, the bravest, the most truthful, the most fulfilling of promises, and the best in social relations. Whoever saw him suddenly would be awestruck, and whoever mingled with him and recognized him would begin to love him. The one describing him would say: I have neither seen anyone like him before him nor after him.
