Hadith 33959
٣٣٩٥٩ - حدثنا وكيع عن بدر بن عثمان عن عكرمة قال: لما أوحي إلى النبي ﷺ قالت قريش: بتر محمد (١) فنزلت: ﴿إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ الْأَبْتَرُ﴾ [الكوثر: ٣]، الذي رماك به هو الأبتر (٢).
Hazrat Ikrimah says that when revelation came to the Prophet ﷺ, the Quraysh said that Muhammad has been cut off from us. So the verse {إنَّ شَانِئَک ہُوَ الأَبْتَرُ } was revealed, that the one who said this to you, he is the one who is cut off from progeny.
