Hadith 32719
٣٢٧١٩ - حدثنا أبو داود الطيالسي عن المثنى بن سعيد عن أبي سفيان قال: خطبنا ابن الزبير فقال: إنا قد ابتلينا بما (قد) (١) ترون، فما أمرناكم بأمرٍ (للَّه) (٢) فيه طاعة فلنا عليكم فيه السمع والطاعة، وما أمرناكم (من أمر) (٣) ليس للَّه فيه طاعة، فليس لنا عليكم فيه طاعة ولا نعمة عين (٤).
It is narrated from Abu Sufyan who says that Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon to us and said: "You see what calamity we have been afflicted with, so if I command you to do something in which there is obedience to Allah Almighty, then it is obligatory upon you to listen to us and obey. But if there is no obedience to Allah Almighty in a matter, then obedience to it is not necessary, nor will we be pleased with it."
