Hadith 32707
٣٢٧٠٧ - حدثنا أبو أسامة (١) حدثنا هشام عن أبيه قال: دخلت أنا وعبد اللَّه بن الزبير على أسماء قبل قتل عبد اللَّه بعشر ليال وأسماء وجعة، فقال لها عبد اللَّه: كيف تجدينك؟ قالت: وجعة، قال: إن في الموت لعافية، (قالت) (٢): لعلك (تشمت بموتي) (٣)، (فلذلك) (٤) (تتمناه) (٥) فلا (تفعل) (٦)، فواللَّه ما أشتهي أن أموت حتى يأتي علي أحد (طريقيك) (٧)، إما أن تقتل فأحتسبك، وإما (أن) (٨) (تظهر) (٩) فتقر عيني، فإياك أن تعرض عليك (خطة) (١٠) لا توافقك فتقبلها كراهة الموت، قال: وإنما عنى ابن الزبير ليقتل فيحزنها ذلك (١١).
Hazrat Urwah narrates that I and Abdullah bin Zubair went to Hazrat Asma ten nights before the killing of Hazrat Abdullah. Hazrat Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) was unwell. Hazrat Abdullah asked her, "How are you feeling?" She replied, "I am in pain." Hazrat Abdullah said, "There is comfort in death." She said, "Perhaps you are giving me news of my death; is this what you want? Do not do so. By Allah! I do not wish to die until I know of one of your two conditions: either you will be killed, in which case I will hope for reward from Allah and be patient, or you will gain dominance, and my eyes will be cooled. Beware that you are not faced with a situation that is not suitable for you, and you accept it just to escape death." The narrator says that Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) said this to her because he was certain of his own killing, and he thought that perhaps Hazrat Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) would not be grieved by his death.
