Hadith 32702
٣٢٧٠٢ - حدثنا ابن علية عن أيوب عن نافع عن ابن عمر قال: لما بويع لعلي أتاني فقال: إنلث امرؤ (محبب) (١) في أهل (الشام) (٢)؟ وقد استعملتك عليهم فسر إليهم، قال: فذكرت القرابة وذكرت (الصهر) (٣) فقلت: أما بعد فواللَّه لا أبايعك، قال: فتركني وخرج، فلما كان بعد ذلك جاء ابن عمر إلى أم كلثوم فسلم عليها و (توجه) (٤) إلى مكة فأتي (علي) (٥) ﵀ فقيل له: إن ابن عمر قد توجه إلى الشام فاستنفر الناس، قال: فإن كان الرجل ليعجل حتى يلقي رداءه في عنق بعيره، قال: وأتيت أم كلثوم فأخبرت فأرسلت إلى أبيها: ما هذا الذي تصنع؟ قد جاءني الرجل وسلم علي وتوجه إلى مكة، فتراجع الناس (٦).
Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when allegiance was pledged at the hand of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he came to me and said, "The people of Syria love you, and I appoint you as their governor; you should go to them." I mentioned to him our kinship and marital relations and submitted, "By Allah! I will not pledge allegiance to you." He says that Hazrat Ali left me and went away. Later, Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to Umm Kulthum, greeted her, and set out towards Makkah. People came to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) has gone towards Syria. So he demanded that people go out and said, "Let someone go quickly and put his sheet around the neck of his camel." It is said that someone conveyed this news to Umm Kulthum, so she sent a message to her respected father, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), saying, "What are you doing? He came to me, greeted me, and went towards Makkah." Upon hearing this, the people returned.
