Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Isra’il narrates that a man said to ‘Uthman bin Abi al-‘As: “You have attained both this world and the Hereafter.” He asked, “How is that?” The man replied, “You have wealth from which you give charity and maintain ties of kinship, while we do not have wealth.” He (‘Uthman) said: “A single dirham that any one of you takes and spends in the right way is better than ten thousand dirhams that one of us takes from abundance but has no right to dispose of.”
