Hadith 32644
٣٢٦٤٤ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش قال رأيت عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى ضربه الحجاج (ووقفه) (١) على باب المسجد، قال: فجعلوا يقولون (له) (٢): العن الكذابين (قال: فجعل يقول: لعن اللَّه الكذابين) (٣)، ثم (يسكت) (٤)، ثم يقول: عليُّ بن أبي طالب وعبد اللَّه بن الزبير والمختار بن أبي عبيد، فعرفت حين (سكت) (٥) ثم ابتدأهم، (فعرفهم) (٦) أنه ليس يريدهم.
A'mash narrates that I saw Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila (may Allah be pleased with him) whom Hajjaj had made to stand at the door of the mosque after having him flogged. He narrates that then people started saying to him, "Curse the liars." He replied, "May Allah curse the liars." Then after a short while he said, "Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), Abdullah bin Zubair, and Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaid." From his silence and then speaking, I understood that he did not mean them.
