Hadith 32370
٣٢٣٧٠ - حدثنا يحيى بن آدم عن سفيان عن عاصم قال: قلنا لطلق بن حبيب: صف لنا التقوى، قال: التقوى عمل بطاعة اللَّه، رجاء رحمة اللَّه، على نور من اللَّه، والتقوى ترك معصية اللَّه مخافة (١) اللَّه على نور من اللَّه.
Hazrat Asim (may Allah have mercy on him) says that we requested Hazrat Talq bin Habib (may Allah have mercy on him): Please explain to us the definition of Taqwa. So he (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Taqwa is to act according to the pleasure of Allah, hoping for the mercy of Allah, upon the light of insight from Allah. And Taqwa is to abstain from disobedience to Allah, fearing Allah, upon the light of insight from Allah.
