Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir narrates that I was on a journey with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. When the true dawn appeared, I gave the call to prayer (adhan) and the iqamah. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, made me stand on his right side and recited the Mu'awwidhatayn (the two chapters of seeking refuge). When the prayer was finished, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Did you see what I recited? I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Indeed, I saw. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Recite these two surahs whenever you go to sleep and whenever you wake up.
