Hadith 32100
٣٢١٠٠ - حدثنا علي بن (مسهر) (١) عن الحسن بن عمرو عن الشعبي قال: أدركت أصحاب (عبد اللَّه) (٢) وأصحاب (علي) (٣) وليس هم لشيء من العلم أكره منهم (لتفسير) (٤) القرآن.
Imam Sha’bi says: I found the students of Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in such a state that, to them, explaining the interpretation of the Qur’an was the most disliked thing in knowledge. Sha’bi said: And Hazrat Abu Bakr used to say: Which sky will give me shade, and which earth will give me shelter, if I say something about the Qur’an of which I have no knowledge?!
