Hadith 31737
٣١٧٣٧ - حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال: أخبرنا أصْبَغُ بن زيد حدثنا أبو العلاء عن أبي أمامة قال: لبس عمر بن الخطاب ثوبا جديدًا فقال: الحمد للَّه الذي كساني ⦗٣٣٢⦘ ما أواري (به) (١) عورتي، وأتجمل به في حياتي، [(ثم) (٢) قال: سمعت رسول اللَّه ﷺ يقول: "من لبس ثوبًا جديدًا فقال: الحمد للَّه الذي كساني ما أواري به عورتي، وأتجمل به في حياتي] (٣)، ثم عمد إلى الثوب الذي (أُخلق) (٤) -أو قال- ألقى، فتصدق به كان في كنف اللَّه وفي حفظ اللَّه وفي ستر اللَّه حيا وميتا قالها ثلاثًا" (٥).
Hazrat Abu Umamah narrates that when Hazrat Umar bin Khattab wore new clothes, he recited this supplication: Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with garments by which I cover my private parts and with which I adorn myself in my life. Then he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever wears new clothes and recites this supplication: Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with garments by which I cover my private parts and with which I adorn myself in my life, and then gives away his old clothes, which he has torn or, as he said, set aside, as charity, then he will remain under Allah’s protection, support, and concealment in his life and after his death. The Prophet said this three times.
