Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Hazrat Umar said: I fear that a long time will pass over people until someone will say: We do not find the command of stoning in the Book of Allah! Thus, they will go astray by abandoning an obligation which Allah has revealed. Beware! The command of stoning is true when a man is married, or evidence is established, or she is pregnant, or there is a confession, and indeed I have recited it. Translation: When a married man and a married woman both commit adultery, then you must certainly stone them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stoned, and after him, we also stoned. Hazrat Sufyan was asked: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stone? He replied: Yes.
