Hadith 29971
٢٩٩٧١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه قال: كان السارق على عهد النبي ﷺ يقطع في ثمن المجن، وكان المجن يومئذ له ثمن، ولم يكن يقطع في الشيء التافه (١).
Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah narrates that his father, Hazrat Urwah, said: In the time of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the hand of a thief was cut off for stealing something equal in value to a shield, and at that time a shield had a certain value. And at that time, the hand was not cut off for stealing something insignificant or of little value.
