Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj says that I asked Hazrat Ata: If a man says to a child, "Move back," and the child falls and dies, what is the ruling? He replied that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would hold him liable, because he had frightened the child. I asked him, if someone said this to an adult, Hazrat Ata replied that the ruling is the same in that case as well.
