Hadith 29567
٢٩٥٦٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال: أخبرنا أبو مالك الأشجعي عن (سعد بن) (١) عبيدة قال: جاء رجل إلى ابن عباس فقال: لمن قتل مؤمنًا توبة؟ قال: لا، (إلا) (٢) النار، فلما ذهب قال له جلساؤه: ما هكذا كنت تفتينًا، كنت تفتينًا أن لمن قتل مؤمنًا توبة مقبولة، فما بال (هذا) (٣) اليوم؟ قال: إني أحسبه (رجلًا مغضبًا) (٤) يريد أن يقتل مؤمنًا، قال: فبعثوا في أثره فوجدوه كذلك (٥).
Hazrat Sa’d bin Ubaidah narrates that a man came to Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) and said: Is the door of repentance open for one who kills a believer? He replied: No, except for Hell. Then when that person left, his companions said to him: You do not give us such a fatwa. You do not give us a fatwa that surely the repentance of one who kills a believer is accepted, so what is the ruling today? He replied: I think this person is angry and intends to kill a believer. The narrator said: So those people went after that man and found him to be just as he had said.
