Hadith 28311
٢٨٣١١ - حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن جامع بن شداد عن الأسود بن هلال قال: جاء رجل إلى عبد اللَّه فقال (له) (١): خشيت أن تصيبني هذه الآية: ﴿وَمَنْ يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِ﴾ [الحشر: ٩] الآية، ما أستطيع أن أعطي شيئًا أطيق منعه، قال عبد اللَّه: ذاك البخل (٢)، وبئس الشيء البخل (٣).
Hazrat Aswad bin Hilal narrates that a person came to Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: I fear that I may not be able to fulfill the meaning of this verse of the Holy Qur'an { وَمَنْ یُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِہِ } because I do not have the ability to spend things, rather I have the ability to withhold them. Hazrat Abdullah replied that this is miserliness, and miserliness is the worst thing.
