(ما يقول الرجل إذا نام وإذا استيقظ)Supplication When Sleeping and Upon Waking
Hadith 28220
٢٨٢٢٠ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن عبد الملك بن عمير عن ربعي عن حذيفة قال: كان النبي ﷺ إذا نام قال: "اللهم باسمك (أحيى) (١) وأموت"، وإذا استيقظ ⦗٤٧٩⦘ قال: "الحمد للَّه الذي أحيانا بعدما أماتنا وإليه النشور" (٢).
Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to sleep, he would recite this supplication: O Allah! In Your name I die and I live. And when he (peace and blessings be upon him) would wake up, he would recite this supplication: All praise is due to Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the return after death.
