Hadith 26381
٢٦٣٨١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن عيينة عن الزهري عن عبيد اللَّه عن ابن عباس عن ميمونة أن شاة لمولاة ميمونة مر بها قد أعطيتها من الصدقة ميتة، فقال: هذا أخذوا إهابها (فدبغوه) (١) فانتفعوا (به) (٢) (قالوا) (٣): يا رسول اللَّه إنها ميتة، قال: "إنما حرم أكلها" (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Maymunah that her freed slave woman had a dead goat—which had been given to her from charity—when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by her. He said: "Why did they not remove the skin of this goat, tan it, and then benefit from it?" The people said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! It is dead." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Its eating is forbidden only."
