Hadith 26277
٢٦٢٧٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن إدريس عن (حصين) (١) عن الشعبي عن سويد بن (غفلة) (٢) قال: شهدنا اليرموك، (قال) (٣): فاستقبلنا عمر وعلينا ⦗٤٨٨⦘ الديباج والحرير، فأمر (فرمينا) (٤) بالحجارة، قال: فقلنا: ما بلغه عنا؟ قال: فنزعناه، وقلنا: كره (زينًا) (٥)، فلما (استقبلنا) (٦) رجب بنا (وقال) (٧): إنكم جئتموني في زي أهل الشرك، إن اللَّه لم يرض لمن قبلكم الديباج و (لا) (٨) الحرير (٩).
It is narrated from Hazrat Suwaid bin Ghaflah that he said: We were present at Yarmouk. The narrator says: We encountered Hazrat Umar while we were wearing brocade and silk. Hazrat Umar ordered us to be pelted with stones. We thought to ourselves: What has reached him about us? The narrator says: Then we took off those clothes and said: He did not like our appearance. Then when we met Hazrat Umar again, he welcomed us and said: You had come to me earlier in the appearance of the people of shirk (polytheism). Surely, Allah was not pleased with brocade and silk for those before you either.
