Hadith 25658
٢٥٦٥٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن عيينة عن يحيى بن سعيد عن النعمان بن أبي عياش قال: (أرسلنا) (١) إلى (عبد اللَّه) (٢) بن (عمرو) (٣) (نسأله) (٤) عن أي الكبائر أكبر؟ فقال: الخمر، (فأعدنا) (٥) إليه الرسول فقال: الخمر، إنه من شربها لم تقبل له صلاة سبعًا، فإن سكر لم تقبل له صلاة أربعين يومًا، (فإن مات فيها مات) (٦) ميتة جاهلية (٧).
It is narrated from Hazrat Nu’man bin Abi Ayyash, he says that we sent a messenger to Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) with the purpose to ask him: Among the major sins, which sin is the greatest? He replied: Alcohol. We again sent a messenger to him, and he again replied: Alcohol. Because whoever drinks alcohol, his prayer is not accepted for seven days, and if he becomes intoxicated from it, then his prayer is not accepted for forty days, and if he dies during this period, he will die the death of ignorance.
