It is narrated from Hazrat Sulaik bin Mashhal. He says that when Hazrat Umar set out to perform Hajj or Umrah, he stopped by a well and asked for his travel provisions, from which he ate, and the rest of the people also ate. Then he asked for water, and a cup of nabidh was brought to him. He said: "Give this cup of nabidh to Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf." When Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf smelled it, he returned the cup. Then the cup was given to Hazrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas, and he also smelled it and returned it. Hazrat Umar said: "Bring it here." So he tasted the cup and then said: "O Ajlan!" (addressing his servant), "What is this?" He replied: "O Commander of the Faithful! I put raisins in a waterskin, then I hung it inside the saddle, and I poured water over it." Hazrat Umar said: "Bring two witnesses for what you are saying." So he brought two witnesses, and they testified. Then Hazrat Umar said: "O my son! Wash your waterskin."
