Hadith 25308
٢٥٣٠٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن علية عن أبي حيان عن الشعبي عن ابن عمر قال: سمعت عمر بن الخطاب يخطب على منبر المدينة يقول: يا أيها الناس ألا إنه نزل تحريم الخمر يوم (نزل) (١)، (وهي) (٢) من خمسة (أشياء) (٣): من العنب والتمر والعسل والحنطة والشعير، والخمر ما خامر العقل (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says that I heard Umar bin Khattab delivering a sermon on the pulpit of Madinah, saying: O people! Beware, indeed the prohibition of alcohol has been revealed on the day it was to be revealed. And it is made from five things: from grapes, from dates, from honey, from wheat, and from barley. And khamr is that which covers the intellect.
