Hazrat Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunaif narrates from his father that Hazrat Amir passed by Sahl while Sahl was bathing. Hazrat Amir said, "I have never seen anyone like this person today, nor have I ever seen such white skin." Then (suddenly) Hazrat Sahl fell to the ground, to the extent that due to the severity of the pain, he was not aware of anything. So, this matter was reported to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Hazrat Amir and expressed anger at him and said: "You have killed him. On what basis does one of you kill his brother? Why did you not pray for blessing for him?" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him (Amir) and said, "Give him a bath." So he bathed, and went along with the caravan. Hazrat Zuhri says, "The point of knowledge is that the person who cast the evil eye is the one who should perform the bath." He says that a bowl of water should be brought, and then he should wash in that bowl. Then, with his left hand, he should pour water over his right hand, then with his right hand, pour water over his left hand, then put his left hand and pour water over his right elbow, and put his right hand and pour water over his left elbow, then wash his right foot, then wash his right hand, then wash his left foot. Then put his right hand and wash both knees. And he should hold his lower garment and pour this water over his head all at once. He should keep pouring until the bowl is empty.
