It is narrated from Abdullah bin Babiyah, the freed slave of Jubair bin Mut’im, who says that Asma bint Umais reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! The children of Ja’far are affected by the evil eye very quickly, so should I have them treated with ruqyah (spiritual healing)?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Yes.” And if I were to say that anything could precede destiny, I would say that the evil eye can precede destiny.”
