It is narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: One night, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was performing prayer when, during this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his blessed hand on the ground and a scorpion stung him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) subdued the scorpion with his shoe and killed it. Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he said: "May Allah's curse be upon the scorpion; it does not spare the one who is praying nor the one who is not praying." Or he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It does not spare the Prophet nor the non-Prophet." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for salt and water, and placed them in a vessel. Then he began to pour this water on the place where the scorpion had stung and started rubbing it, and recited the Mu'awwidhatayn (the last two surahs of the Qur'an) and blew upon it.
