Hadith 24292
٢٤٢٩٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا حفص عن ابن أبي ليلى عن الحكم عن علي قال: بعث (معي) (١) النبي ﷺ بغلامين سبيين مملوكين أبيعهما، فلما أتيته قال: جمعت (أو) (٢) فرقت؟ قلت: فرقت؟ قال: "فأدرك أدرك" (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent two captive children with me, so that I might sell them. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) inquired, "Did you sell them together or separately?" I replied, "Separately." He said, "Catch them (i.e., bring them back)."
