Hadith 23363
٢٣٣٦٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا هشام بن عروة عن أبيه عن أبي حميد الساعدي أن النبي ﷺ استعمل (ابن) (١) (اللتبية) (٢) على صدقات بني سليم، فلما جاء قال: هذا لكم، وهذا أهدي لي، فقام النبي ﷺ فخطب الناس فحمد اللَّه وأثنى عليه ثم قال: "ما بال (٣) رجال نوليهم أمورًا مما (ولانا) (٤) ⦗٢١٦⦘ (اللَّه) (٥) فيجيء (أحدكم) (٦) فيقول: هذا لكم وهذا أهدي إلي، أفلا يجلس في بيت أبيه أو بيت أمه حتى تأتيه هدية إن كان صادقًا" (٧).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Humaid Al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Ibn Al-Lutbiyyah as the collector over the charity of Banu Sulaym. When he returned, he said, "This is for you and this is a gift for me." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, praised and glorified Allah, and then said: "What is the matter with some people whom we appoint as officials over some of the affairs which Allah has entrusted to us? Then one of them comes and says: 'This is for you and this is a gift for me.' If he is truthful, why does he not sit in the house of his father or mother so that the gift may come to him there?"
