Hadith 22844
٢٢٨٤٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن أبي زائدة عن مجالد عن عامر قال: قرأت (كتاب) (١) عمر إلى شريح بذلك، وذلك أن جارية من قريش قال: لها أخوها وهي مملكة: تصدقي علي بميراثك من أبيك قبل أن تذهبي إلى زوجك، ففعلت ثم طلبت ميراثها فرده عليها (٢).
The letter of Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was read before Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him), in which it was written that the brother of a slave woman from the Quraysh said to her, "Before you go to your husband's house, give me your father's inheritance (give it to me as charity)." She did so, and then when she asked her brother for the inheritance, he returned it to her.
