Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took a pledge from us that we would not consider the gift of a slave woman as valid (enforceable) until she had spent a year in the house or had borne a child from her womb.
