Hadith 22145
٢٢١٤٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا هشيم عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم أنه كان يقول في العبد المأذون له في التجارة: إذا كان عليه دين فأعتقه مولاه، (قال) (١): يسعى لهم العبد في دينهم، لم يزده العتق إلا صلاحًا.
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) says regarding a permitted slave that if he is in debt and his master sets him free, then the slave will try to pay off the creditors’ debts; freedom has not increased him in anything except his capacity.
