Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Ibrahim says that the predecessors used to perform tasweeb in the Fajr and Isha prayers. Ibrahim's muezzin also used to perform tasweeb in the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and they did not stop him. The meaning of tasweeb is: to repeat the words. In the adhan, tasweeb means that after giving the adhan once, the muezzin, as a precaution, says the words of the adhan a second time. This practice was legislated at the beginning of Islam.
