Hadith 2178
٢١٧٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا عبدة بن سليمان عن هشام بن عروة عن رجل يقال له إسماعيل قال: جاء المؤذن (يؤذن) (١) عمر بصلاة الصبح فقال: الصلاة خير ⦗٤٤٦⦘ من النوم، فأعجب (به) (٢) عمر، وقال للمؤذن: أقرها في أذانك (٣).
Ismail narrates that once the muezzin of Hazrat Umar came to inform him of the morning adhan and said: "As-salatu khayrun minan-nawm" (Prayer is better than sleep). Hazrat Umar liked these words very much and instructed the muezzin to make these words a part of his adhan.
