Hazrat Abu Raja says that we were traveling a long distance in a thorny land when one of our companions caught a rabbit. Finding nothing to slaughter it with, he slaughtered it with his fingernail, then roasted it in the hot sand and ate it. I refused to eat that rabbit. Later, I mentioned this to Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), and he said, "You did well by not eating it, because it was killed by strangulation."
