Hadith 20796
٢٠٧٩٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا (ابن) (١) إدريس عن ابن جريج عن عطاء قال: إذ كنت في تخليص الصيد فسبقك بنفسه، فلا بأس أن (تأكله) (٢)، وإن تربصت به فمات فلا (تأكله) (٣).
Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if you try to reach the hunted animal and it dies before you reach it, then there is no harm in eating it. But if you catch it and also have the opportunity to slaughter it, yet you do not slaughter it, then do not eat it.
